Miriam Watchorn CLT, MATII, MCIOL has 30 years’ experience as a freelance translator, working mainly from French to English. She is an ATII Certified Legal Translator and specialises in legal and financial translation but has a broad and diverse range of translation experience and interests. She lectures in translation studies at Dublin City University, Ireland. She serves on the ATII Executive Committee and is Chair of the Mentoring Subcommittee.

Mariana Ciocca Alves Passos is a Senior Language Lead at ServiceNow. She is a former member of the ATII Executive Committee who is passionate about helping people and companies communicate well. After working as a freelance translator and proofreader for over a decade, she joined ServiceNow to improve how their products look in Brazilian Portuguese. She holds a BA in Language and Literature (Portuguese and English) from the University of Sao Paulo (Brazil) and an MA in Applied Theology from the Irish Bible Institute.

Anne Fox is a freelance translator working from French into English. She specialises in corporate communications, financial reporting, green finance and ESG. Based in Ireland, she has been a freelance translator for 30 years. Anne’s focus is on delivering writing that works, that gets the client’s message across. Her focus is on providing clear and idiomatic translations into English appropriate for the target readership. Anne is a qualified member of the UK Institute of Translation and Interpreting and a professional member of the Association of Translators and Interpreters Ireland.

Dr Natalia Resende is the Haddad Assistant Professor in Literary Translation at the Trinity Centre for Literary and Cultural Translation, Trinity College Dublin. An experienced researcher, she has worked on numerous EU-funded projects in the field of Machine Translation and Natural Language Processing and received prestigious grants, including the Marie Sklodowska-Curie Fellowship. With a multidisciplinary background in computer science, linguistics, and psycholinguistics, Natalia’s research centres on translation technologies, especially machine translation-human interaction, using methods from cognitive science, linguistics, and artificial intelligence. In addition to her research, she teaches translation technologies and Python programming to translators, translation studies researchers, and language professionals.

Dr Vicent Briva-Iglesias is Assistant Professor in Translation Technologies at the School of Applied Language and Intercultural Studies (SALIS) at Dublin City University (DCU). Vicent’s research areas are state-of-the-art language technologies and human-computer interaction, as well as localisation and specialized translation and interpreting (in the legal and medical domains). Vicent is also Adjunct Professor at McGill University (Canada) and the Universitat Oberta de Catalunya (Spain). Besides his academic experience, Vicent has a strong industry background: he has been working in the translation, interpreting, and localisation industry for +8 years, and runs AWORDZ Language Engineering, a small language services provider.

Alexandra Hambling is a Consultant Interpreter, member of Calliope-Interpreters, the highly regarded worldwide network of consultant interpreters. Alexandra started her career as a freelance conference interpreter in 1996 at the European Commission in Brussels. A couple of years later, she joined the International Association of Conference Interpreters (AIIC) and was regularly interpreting high-level diplomatic events such as the G8 and G20 Summits. In 2004, after her move to Ireland, she was accepted in the Calliope-Interpreters network, which bolstered her capacity to organise teams of professional interpreters for events around the world. Alexandra is the Chief Interpreter at the European Central Bank in Frankfurt, providing interpreters specialised in finance for the Bank’s internal and external meetings. Her portfolio of clients includes other international institutions, associations and federations as well as Government bodies, Embassies, multinational corporations and charities.

Lisa Cavanagh is a freelance conference interpreter and translator based in her hometown of Sligo in the west of Ireland. Her interpreting work is primarily based in public service/community interpreting, mainly in healthcare settings. Her working languages are French and Spanish, and she has been making a poor attempt to add Irish as a working language for a few years now. Her translation work is varied but she specialises in medical, legal and business translations.
